Things to look at in Milton Keynes homes

  • 1970s new-town estates in Fishermead, Netherfield and Beanhill: photograph flat roofs, timber cladding, windows and any condensation or mould.
  • New-build homes in Broughton, Brooklands and the western expansion areas: record snagging marks, sealant and any cracks so they are noted before the tenancy.
  • Central Milton Keynes apartments: note fob, key, parking and bike store counts, and photograph balconies and the intercom.
  • Victorian terraces in Wolverton and Bletchley: photograph the rear yard, alley access, gutters and any damp in back rooms.
  • Stone cottages in Olney and the northern villages: record damp patches, wood burners and flues, and any oil tank.

Your deposit

Your landlord must protect your deposit in the DPS, TDS or mydeposits within 30 days and tell you which. At the end, deductions can only be for damage beyond fair wear and tear, cleaning back to the check-in standard, or rent owed. A dated check-in record is your best protection.
