Inventory and check-in reports in Haringey

Haringey's west, around Highgate, Muswell Hill and Crouch End, is mostly large Victorian and Edwardian houses, many converted into flats, while the east, around Tottenham and Wood Green, has denser terraces, flats above shops and big post-war estates. More than a third of households rented privately in 2021, and shared homes and HMOs are common on the Harringay Ladder and in Tottenham. Regeneration around Tottenham Hale and the High Road is adding new-build towers. The council licenses HMOs borough-wide and runs selective licensing in 14 wards.

Questions

Inventories in Haringey: questions

How much does an inventory clerk cost in Haringey?

Clerks usually charge per visit, more for bigger or furnished homes, so a check-in and a check-out together often come to a few hundred pounds. With DIY Inventory each report is £30, whatever the size, and you can do it as soon as you have the keys.

What is the average rent in Haringey?

£2,213 a month (ONS, July 2026), up 1.5% on a year earlier. Rents vary a lot by street and type of home; the free property report shows sold prices, the EPC and more for any Haringey postcode.

Do landlords need a licence in Haringey?

Selective licensing: Selective licensing has been in force since 17 November 2022 in 14 wards, mostly in the east of the borough (including Tottenham and Wood Green areas), and is due to end on 17 November 2027 unless renewed. Additional HMO licensing: Borough-wide additional HMO licensing, under a five-year scheme that started on 17 June 2024. Fees: Around £706 for a selective licence on the council's fees page, with discounts for accredited landlords or a compliant EPC (2026) Check the council’s own page before letting, as schemes change.

Can I do my own check-in inventory in Haringey?

Yes. Landlords, agents and tenants can do it on a phone: a photo checklist for every room, the date and time stamped on every photo, every item’s condition, and both sides sign. The PDF is ready the moment it’s signed.

Will a DIY inventory stand up in a deposit dispute?

Deposit schemes (DPS, TDS, mydeposits) decide on the evidence, above all the condition at check-in compared with check-out. Dated photos of every room, signed by both sides, are exactly that evidence.
