Deposits and the inventory
Protect the deposit in the DPS, TDS or mydeposits within 30 days. At the end, the scheme decides any dispute on the evidence, above all the check-in compared with the check-out, so the inventory is what protects you.
What to record in East Cambridgeshire homes
- Homes on fen peat and clay: photograph cracks in walls, ceilings and door frames, since the ground shrinks and swells.
- New-build estates in Ely, Soham and Littleport: photograph any snagging, the meters and allocated parking, and note who maintains shared green spaces.
- Older cottages, some thatched: photograph the roof from outside, beams, uneven floors and any damp patches.
- Rural homes off the gas grid: photograph the oil tank and gauge reading, the boiler, and any septic tank or treatment plant.
- Riverside and fen homes near the Great Ouse: note any flood-protection products and photograph damp on low walls.
